During her appearance on Brett Goldstein's podcast "Films to be Buried With," Lopez was asked what movie she can't stand. The question came during a conversation with co-star and host Brett Goldstein.
«"I think you can tell from my movie tastes that it is, but 'Nomadland,'" the "On The Floor" singer responded. "I know it's not a popular movie. I know... But that's not why I go to the movies.".
In "Nomadland," Frances McDormand plays a widow who leaves her home to live on the road, traveling across America. Lopez also explained that she prefers upbeat musicals and light romantic comedies. Therefore, "Nomadland," with its calm, dramatic tone, is far from that genre.
«"It's a slow-burning story about grief, and there's no room for escapism," Ben Affleck's ex-wife shared. "And I like some movies like that. Some movies would be a little... But I just didn't like this one.".
However, Lopez credited McDormand for her compelling performance. "She's amazing. We all know that. It's no surprise. She deserves all the Oscars," she said. "But I just didn't like it in that way.".
However, the "Dance Again" singer paused before calling the film the worst she'd ever seen. She said it was difficult to rate it that way because it was beautifully shot and clearly resonated with many viewers. Ultimately, she agreed with Goldstein that it wasn't the worst film ever made, but simply her least favorite genre.
