Following Blue Fox Entertainment's bankruptcy filing for iPic Theaters in March, the company has acquired two luxury iPic theaters in Los Angeles' Westwood Village and New York City and will rebrand them as The Cinemas.
These theaters will no longer offer in-room food and beverage service, with the company instead focusing on premium buffets with "enhanced food and beverage offerings," emphasizing that the elimination of in-room service "is intended to enhance the moviegoing experience by reducing noise, lighting, and other service-related distractions.".

According to Blue Fox, the theaters, as well as the Tuck Room restaurant and cocktail bar, will remain open and operational throughout the rebranding process.

The iPic theaters in Pasadena and elsewhere were not part of the Blue Fox acquisition.
In addition to continuing to screen major studio films, independent films, and classics nights, The Cinemas will develop event-focused programming, including preview screenings, director Q&As, repertoire screenings, special screenings, and community-driven events.
The iPic Fulton Market theater in New York City's Seaport neighborhood has eight screens, while the Westwood Village location, once an Avco Center Cinemas, has six.
Founded in 2015, Blue Fox is an independent film distributor, financier, and marketer, responsible for films such as "Lost in the Mountains of Maine" and "The Wolf and the Lion." The company stated that the expansion will create "a vertically integrated platform capable of supporting filmmakers from development and production to global distribution and theatrical release.".
