In the classic soap opera style, the series «Beyond the Gates» combines dramatic storylines with real-life issues. In recent months, as part of the "Know Your Lemons" project, the series has emphasized the importance of early detection of breast cancer, as Anita ( Tamara Tuni ) battled triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Now the series is collaborating with the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly, as Mona ( Karan Kendrick) fights type 2 diabetes.
In the new video, Kendrick discussed the storyline, admitting that she once suffered from prediabetes. She shared that she was able to manage her health by moving more and changing her diet. She continued:
When I read the script and learned about Mona's type 2 diabetes, I had to process it. This story needs to be told in a way that truly resonates with people who have experienced similar experiences. And on a more personal level, I was once prediabetic myself.
She added that changing her exercise and diet helped her keep the situation under control. Kendrick also noted:
But, like Mona, I didn't despair. I kept going. It's so important to me to be part of a story that truly reflects the reality of people's lives in the most authentic way.
