Celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton's dream has come true, thanks to Britney Spears. And perhaps Kim Kardashian, too.
In an Instagram post posted on Monday, June 1, Appleton posed with the pop star, playfully leaning over his shoulder and sticking out her tongue while holding a curling iron. The photo captured both her glamorous look and her signature sense of humor.
Spears's blonde hair looked noticeably straight, a departure from the more textured, loose waves she's favored in recent years.
«"Growing up in England, Britney Spears was the soundtrack to so many moments. Never in my life did I think I'd one day be standing behind a chair (or, in this case, she'd be standing behind mine, haha) doing her hair," Appleton wrote in his post. "Some moments really do come full circle.".
He concluded his post by saying, "She is not only an icon, but one of the most truly kind and gentle souls I have ever met.".
In the comments, Kim Kardashian added several heart emojis to the photo, hinting at her approval of the new look. Appleton was Kardashian's hairstylist before working with the pop star, so it's likely she was the one who introduced them. According to sources, Appleton has been working with Kardashian since 2016. Appleton responded to this comment: "Love you.".
Other celebrities, fans, and industry influencers also expressed their support for Spears and her new look in the comments.
Since her conservatorship ended in late 2021, Spears has experienced a turbulent period marked by both a newfound freedom and a number of personal and legal challenges. Most recently, she faced legal challenges stemming from a March 2026 drunk driving arrest in Southern California. In late April, prosecutors charged her with misdemeanor DUI (according to PBS).
