Denise Richards lifted the veil on the difficult process of preparing for a court hearing.
On Tuesday, June 2, the 55-year-old actress shared a morning video titled "getting it together" on Instagram as she prepared for her divorce from her ex-husband, Aaron Phypers.
«"It's four in the morning, don't I look wonderful?" Richards began the video, dressed in a pink robe. "The man I'm divorcing likes to have the press around.".
The star explained that "choosing what to wear to court is not easy.".
«"I know some people have said I'm wearing leather before, but I love this short leather skirt from Gucci," Richards said of her outfit. "It's a pencil skirt, so it looks conservative.".
«"Believe it or not, I don't have that many costumes," she continued.
Dressed in a black leather miniskirt and a tight-fitting black long-sleeved shirt, Richards asked someone off-camera, "This is pretty conservative, right?" adding, "It looks like office wear.".

According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, Phypers, 53, filed for divorce from Richards in July 2025, citing "irreconcilable differences." The couple married in September 2018, shortly after beginning their relationship in December 2017.
Richards later accused him of domestic violence and claimed he had "repeatedly abused" her throughout their relationship. In a previous statement to PEOPLE, Phypers called Richards' abuse allegations "completely false and deeply offensive." In a July 2025 interview with TMZ, Phypers himself accused his ex-wife of cheating on him with another man and alleged physical abuse.
In February, Richards was ordered to pay Phypers $25,000 in attorney fees and temporary spousal support.
Richards broke her silence about the divorce in August 2025, more than two months after filing.
«"I just wanted to know how your summer was," she began in an Instagram video. "Mine was wonderful. Actually, it was terrible, but I'm going to pretend everything's fine. I even posted on Instagram like nothing was happening in my life, but I can't do that anymore because something is clearly happening.".
«"I see all your messages. I can't comment because it will be published in the press, but I just wanted to say, quite seriously, that this has been a very, very, very difficult time," she admitted. "Going through divorce is so hard.".

«"A lot of you have been through this. This isn't my first divorce—it's my second," she added, referring to her split from Charlie Sheen in 2006. "I never thought I'd get divorced again. That's why I always say: never say never.".
