Dennis Quaid has filed to stop paying child support for his 18-year-old twins, Thomas and Zoe, from his ex-wife, Kimberly Buffington.
The former couple married in 2004, briefly separated in 2012, and soon reconciled. They then filed for divorce in 2016.
According to the divorce agreement, Dennis paid Kimberly $13,750 in monthly child support, which was to be paid until "the child completes 12th grade (if under 19 and attending high school full-time) or such other specified dates, whichever came first.".

Zoe graduated from high school on May 23rd and Thomas was getting married on June 3rd, so Dennis asked for the payments to be stopped on May 20th.
The 72-year-old, who was supposed to pay Kimberly an extra amount each year if his income exceeded $1.3 million, asked that the bonus be "prorated based on each child's graduation date, not based on Dennis's income for the entire year 2026.".
In 2016, the couple announced their divorce in a statement to TMZ , which stated: "The decision was made peacefully and with mutual respect. We will always remain wonderful friends and devoted partners in raising our children.".
In 2007, he and Kimberly had Zoe and Thomas (WireImage).
They shared physical and legal custody of Zoe and Thomas, with Kimberly caring for the twins 75 percent of the time and Dennis 25 percent due to his busy filming schedule. Although Dennis keeps his family life private, he has revealed Fox News about the fear he felt when the Texas floods hit Camp Mystic in July 2025, where Zoe worked as a counselor.
