Recently, a LEGO minifigure from the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday set was leaked, confirming the official design of one of the film's main characters and hinting at his significant role in a specific location in the upcoming film. There's already a lot of excitement surrounding Avengers: Doomsday, but as the film's release date approaches—December 18, 2026—fans' excitement and anticipation will only grow. Marvel is trying to keep details about Doomsday under wraps, but as with any film released in the modern era, leaks seem inevitable.
Renowned LEGO insider Brick Tap recently shared a post on the X network featuring images of the torso of a minifigure that will be included in the official LEGO set based on the upcoming film "Avengers: Doomsday." The images show only the minifigure's torso and arms; the head and legs are missing, but it's perfectly clear which character it represents.
Featuring black and gray colors on the minifigure's front and gold horizontal stripes on one of its arms, leaked photos reveal what part of the Bucky Barnes minifigure will look like in the Avengers: Doomsday set. Brick Tap confirmed that this is indeed the Bucky minifigure in the post's body copy, and, notably, confirmed that Bucky's character design in Doomsday will be familiar to fans.
The Bucky Barnes (aka Winter Soldier) minifigure features a silver Avengers symbol on the left chest, seemingly symbolizing that Bucky will be wearing some kind of armor. This is the same suit Bucky wore in the post-credits scene of "Thunderbolts," which Marvel Studios confirmed was from "Avengers: Judgment Day.".
The only significant difference between Bucky's design in Thunderbolts* and the Doomsday minifigure is his right arm. In the film, Bucky clearly sported a silver Winter Soldier star with a red outline. The minifigure's right arm lacks the star; it's hollow.
Brick Tap hasn't confirmed which upcoming Doomsday set this Bucky Barnes minifigure will appear in. Several Doomsday sets have already been announced and leaked, and while this is just speculation, it's possible Bucky Barnes will appear in a new set based on Avengers Tower.
LEGO will reportedly release a new Avengers Tower set in 2026. It's not specified whether it will be a Legacy set based on the original Avengers Tower, or a Doomsday set based on the modern version of the tower that belonged to Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, but it's likely the latter, as the tower will be featured in the Doomsday movie and was a prominent setting in the Thunderbolts series*.
If this set is a replica of the new version of the tower and is part of the LEGO Doomsday series of sets, it will almost certainly include minifigures of Bucky Barnes (and likely the rest of the Thunderbolts/New Avengers team). This isn't the first time LEGO has released a set modeling the Avengers Tower, and it likely won't be the last, as it's quite a prominent location in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It's also worth noting that, since the leaked minifigure effectively confirmed that Bucky will retain the same character design as in the Thunderbolts* post-credits scene, fans will see the character in a new suit again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since Bucky's appearance in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger, his design has undergone numerous changes.
Most notably, in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, he was given long hair, a mask, and a metal arm, which largely carried over into Captain America: Civil War. However, after finally breaking free from HYDRA's control in Civil War, he donned a new arm made of vibranium in Avengers: Infinity War.
Then, in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, he got a haircut, marking a new stage in his character's development.
Each of these Bucky designs had different LEGO minifigures created for them, so it's no surprise that LEGO released a new minifigure for his new look in the Doomsday movie, too.
Other Avengers: Doomsday LEGO sets announced«
As mentioned, the Bucky Barnes minifigure from the LEGO Avengers: Doomsday set isn't the only major leak about LEGO products based on the Avengers film set coming in 2026. In addition to the minifigure, fans have been told that other sets (both based on locations from the film and dedicated entirely to key characters) will be announced soon.
For example, LEGO is reportedly planning to release a Doctor Doom bust set in 2026. This set will be based on Robert Downey Jr.'s portrayal of Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday and will be similar to other bust sets released previously.
For example, LEGO previously unveiled a full-size Iron Man bust made from bricks. Like a standard bust, it only included the shoulders, upper chest, and head, but it was highly detailed (even including a weapon) and served more as a formal display piece than a traditional replica set. Notably, the set also included an Iron Man minifigure.
So, if LEGO replicates this strategy for the Doctor Doom bust (which is expected to happen), fans can expect a set with a Doctor Doom bust that looks very similar to the Iron Man bust. This would also mean the set would include a Doom minifigure, which would be a big deal, as it's been over 10 years since fans have seen a new Doom minifigure.
There are also rumors that LEGO plans to release mech sets based on the film "Avengers: Doomsday." Mechs have become increasingly popular in recent years, especially among children, and are essentially exaggerated versions of popular characters in mechanical form.
Previous LEGO mech sets allowed fans to create costumes specifically designed for specific characters. For example, a Thor mech was released that included giant arms, giant legs, a giant version of Mjolnir, and a Thor armor design. Notably, the mech sets included minifigures of the characters they were based on, allowing collectors to place minifigures inside the mechs to create the illusion that they were piloting the machines.
LEGO is rumored to be releasing a new Thor robot set for Avengers: Doomsday, along with a Doctor Doom robot set. This will give fans another Doctor Doom set to collect, along with another Doom minifigure, and the opportunity to stage a battle between the two robots, as the Avengers: Doomsday trailer already confirmed that Thor and Doom will face off in the upcoming film.
Given the sheer scale of "Doomsday" and the fact that it could easily become the highest-grossing film of all time, LEGO will undoubtedly want to release as many sets dedicated to the upcoming film as possible. Some of the planned sets have already leaked online, but there are likely many more that no one knows about yet.
