The power of nostalgia in Hollywood has been evident for years: moviegoers love to see the films and TV shows they enjoyed in their youth on screen. After the record-breaking success of «"Barbie »"Mattel has brought another intellectual property to the big screen: «Masters of the Universe» . Travis Knight's film is almost done, and while some may be worried about Jared Leto's performance as Skeletor, as someone who has already seen the film, I can confidently say that he's incredibly good as the beloved villain.

I didn't get to see Leto at work, so my early screening of the film with Knight was the first time I saw him in action. In the trailer «Masters of the Universe» Leto's wild voice for Skeletor was first heard, and it sounds even better in the theatrical version. His voice is practically unrecognizable, and his performance as He-Man's nemesis kept me laughing throughout the film's 141-minute runtime.

In reviews of «Masters of the Universe »The film's comedic appeal was praised, and surprisingly, it does have a lot of funny moments. Jared Leto deserves credit for many of these moments. Whether it was his exasperated ending to the villain's monologues or the truly hilarious dream sequence involving Nicholas Galitzin's Adam Glenn, Leto's performance truly helped establish the film's unique tone. So, while the 54-year-old actor didn't give any interviews for the film, he certainly contributed to what made this blockbuster what it is.
Beyond Leto's performance, the way visual effects helped create his portrayal of Skeletor is also impressive. Although the suit was entirely practical (I saw it myself during a set visit), CGI was masterfully used to animate the skeletal face of the He-Man villain. Add to this Leto's performance and the hilarious one-liners that often escape his lips, and Skeletor becomes one of the film's main characters, stealing the show.
Viewers will be able to judge the film for themselves. «Masters of the Universe, which will hit theaters on June 5th as part of the 2026 film premiere schedule. We can only wait and see how it performs at the box office and whether Travis Knight's film will spawn a full-fledged film franchise.
