Guitarist John 5 has been touring with Mötley Crüe since 2022, so he's already well-versed in the band's live performances. In an episode of the "Thinking About Guitar" podcast earlier this month, John 5 was asked about the band's live shows.
In a podcast, when asked about rumors that some members of Motley Crue don't play their instruments live but use backing tracks, he stated that it's simply not true.

«"I'm so glad you brought this up, even though people don't want to talk about it, but I'm so glad you did," he said on air. "For a long time, there's been this conversation about, 'Oh, this person doesn't play live,' or 'That person doesn't play live.' It's like, Nikki plays every note, but it's so funny that people don't want to accept it.".
He added: «They say, „Oh, his hands aren’t even on the bass,“ and he’s holding it up in the air. But he’s actually holding down a note, or he’s got one hand up, but he’s playing with that hand. So is he telling the truth? Honestly, it sounds very convincing. The real sign that this band is playing live is these mistakes. Go to a Crue concert, and you won't hear perfection. And that's a good thing, especially in rock 'n' roll.
