EXCLUSIVE Bestselling author Kimberly McCreight continues her series of film adaptations of her books. The film rights to her new novel «Someone Else's Husband» , which made several lists of the most anticipated books of summer 2026, was acquired by Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment ahead of its June 16 release from Knopf.
McCreight will co-write the adaptation and serve as executive producer alongside 3 Arts partner Erwin Stoff. A showrunner is planned, and the project is expected to be brought to market soon.

«Someone Else's Husband» — a psychological thriller that tells the story of Gretchen Falk, a wealthy Park Avenue wife whose life begins to unravel after her husband, Richard, goes on a climbing expedition to Mount Kilimanjaro, where he meets and begins an affair with artist Frankie. Weeks later, Frankie is murdered, and Richard becomes the prime suspect, forcing Gretchen to confront the reality of her husband's life and her own.

Courtney Mock, senior vice president of scripted development at Lionsgate Television, is overseeing the project for the independent studio.

This marks another collaboration between 3 Arts and majority owner Lionsgate. 3 Arts and Lionsgate TV are behind the acclaimed Netflix series «The Hunting Wives» , also based on a book, which Stoff executive produces. He is also an executive producer on the hit Fox medical drama «"Doc".

McCreight is the author of the books «"Restoring Amelia," "Where They Found Her," "A Good Marriage," "Friends Like These," "Like Mother, Like Daughter"» and trilogies «Geniuses and Outsiders» . «"A Good Marriage"» is in development at Amazon, with Nicole Kidman serving as executive producer through her Blossom Films label. «Friends like these» are being developed by Amazon in partnership with Amblin. More than a decade ago, Lionsgate acquired the feature film rights to McCraith's YA sci-fi trilogy. «"Geniuses and Outsiders".
