Chinese company Damai Entertainment has announced the international release of the surprise hit "Dear You," which grossed $223 million.

Chinese film company Damai Entertainment, formerly known as Alibaba Pictures, has announced plans for the international distribution of the unexpectedly successful film. «"Dear you"» , which grossed $223 million starting in Hong Kong and other Chinese-speaking territories later this month.

Damai confirmed today that Dear You album The film will be released on June 18 in Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, and Brunei. It will then be released in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and France. Damai is handling international sales and has reported strong interest from distributors in North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia.

Directed by Lan Hongchun, the film is shot in Teochew dialect rather than standard Mandarin, making its success even more unprecedented. The plot revolves around a grandson who travels to Thailand to find his supposedly wealthy grandfather, with whom his grandmother has hoped to reunite for decades, only to discover that a stranger is sending him money and letters.

Lan said he hoped the film would "convey to global audiences the culture of remittances from overseas and the emotional essence of the Chinese spirit of loyalty and righteousness embodied in the film.".

The film was co-produced by Damai, Shenzhen Golden Ant Film & Media Co, Rongde Holdings Group and Shenzhen Lichun Film, with participation from Guangzhou Mengmengda Network Technology, Changsha Lemon Light Culture Media and Shenzhen Yuguang Film.
