For their Spring/Summer 2026 debut show for Loewe, designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez presented the Amazona 180: a versatile bag inspired by a 1975 model, modernized with a single top handle and a loose silhouette designed to be worn unzipped.

The archive collections were interspersed with a variety of innovative ideas: transparent 3D-printed heels, three-layered shirts worn with technical jackets, and leather treated to a rubber-like texture. The addition of the number "180" pays homage to the house's 180-year history of craftsmanship, a milestone that McCollough and Hernandez are celebrating in true Loewe style.

In the new campaign, photographed by Talia Chetrit, Julia Garner, Sissy Spacek, Gisele, Salma Abou Deif, Kara Wai, and Kara Walker appear in head-to-toe Loewe, accessorized with the brand's most recognizable bags. Among them are the Flamenco clutch, a 1980s classic with its buckle closure; the Puzzle, a mid-2010s hit by Jonathan Anderson; and the latest runway addition, the Amazona 180.

The celebration also includes a capsule collection (available for purchase on loewe.com and in Loewe stores from June 3) featuring bags, small leather goods, and clothing adorned with lion motifs—a nod to the house's name, as Loewe means lion in German—as well as hand-beaded embroidery and leather intarsia, highlighting its artisanal roots.

When it comes to great European fashion houses, Paris and Milan instinctively spring to mind, but Loewe is no newcomer to the world of luxury; it's a fixture in its own right. Founded in 1846, the Spanish brand is the second-oldest active luxury house, behind only 189-year-old Hermès.

Craftsmanship and, of course, leather are central to the anniversary story. Loewe began as a group of leather craftsmen, who later, in 1876, united under the leadership of German merchant Enrique Loewe. The brand then entered the ready-to-wear market in the 1960s (prominent designers included Karl Lagerfeld and Giorgio Armani), and ascended to the world of accessories after joining LVMH shortly before the turn of the millennium. It was Jonathan Anderson's 11-year leadership that brought Loewe into the global fashion spotlight and cemented its reputation in the art world through initiatives such as the Loewe Foundation Prize for Craftsmanship.

Today, this balance between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design remains a defining force, and McCollough and Hernandez have mastered it brilliantly. A glance at the fashion house's ambassadors and friends—Eva Victor, Emily Ratajkowski, Kara Walker, Salma Abou Deif, and Sarah Pidgeon, to name just a few—is proof of this.

Age deserves to be celebrated. But Loewe's uniqueness lies in its ability to engage in a dialogue with art, film, design, and craftsmanship—it is this fusion that drives fashion forward.
