It's extremely rare to see Metallica's name on two UK rock charts—Official Rock & Metal Albums and Official Rock & Metal Singles. Arguably the most successful band in hard rock history, they regularly appear on the lists, sometimes with just one song, sometimes with multiple compilations and perhaps a few fan favorites.
This single track from the Grammy Award-winning band is a best-seller, but the group has achieved much greater success on the lists of best-selling full-length albums and EPs classified Official Charts Company Whether it's hard rock, metal, or just rock, the rockers have significantly improved their performance compared to just a few days ago, releasing two best-selling albums at once.
Metallica returns with two fan-favorite albums.
This week, two Metallica blockbusters returned to the official rock and metal albums chart, and coincidentally, they landed next to each other. Ride the Lightning album returned to the list at number 36, and the band's self-titled studio album again took the 37th place. Both of these projects are below Master of Puppets , which fell one position this week, from 24th to 25th place.

All three Metallica albums that entered this week's Official Rock & Metal Albums Chart are the band's longest-running hits and the only three to spend more than 100 weeks on the chart. Ride the Lightning album reaches this mark, returning to the chart for the hundredth time. Master of Puppets now has 182 chart entries, and the album of the same name Metallica significantly ahead of them all. Recently Metallica became the rare album to spend more than 1,000 weeks on the chart, and now has 1,007 weeks as the rock best-seller.
Several other Metallica compilations have come close to entering the 100-week club, such as, …And Justice for All и Load , which have been on the list for 92 and 81 weeks respectively, but have not yet managed to reach this significant figure.
Metallica Trails Only Pink Floyd
This week, Metallica holds the second-most appearances on the official rock and metal albums chart. Only Pink Floyd outshines the hard rockers with an incredible five out of just 40 spots. The legendary band continues to hold its own on the chart. The Dark Side of the Moon , Wish You Were Here , The Wall , Animals и Live From the Los Angeles Sports Arena .

Five bands occupy the third spot on the best-selling albums list, behind only Metallica, and together occupy the top spot. Green Day, Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Nirvana, and Paramore each hold two spots on this rock-focused list.
Metallica have 12 number ones and several number ones.
Over the more than 30 years of the Official Rock and Metal Albums Chart, Metallica has won a dozen championship titles. This list includes Master of Puppets , and Metallica . Ride the Lightning — one of several projects that missed out on the top spot by just one spot. Along with EP The Unnamed Feeling и Lulu , a joint project with Lou Reed, he reached number two on the chart.
