Paul McCartney is back with a new solo album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, and at a press conference to announce its release, he spoke candidly about the loss of his Beatles bandmates John Lennon and George Harrison.
McCartney's new solo album is inspired by his childhood and early years with The Beatles, and even includes a duet with Beatles drummer Ringo Starr on the song "Home to Us.".
In an interview with The Guardian, McCartney spoke about what brings him solace in the absence of his friends and fellow musicians Lennon and Harrison.
«"My co-author was probably one of the best writers of the century, so yes, you'll miss him," he said in an interview. "But that's life. You lose people.".

He also recalled the words of The Beatles' producer George Martin about aging.
«"The worst part about it is that all your friends start showing off," Martin said.
«"I'm probably at that age now, and I'm very aware of it, having lost John and George, the two important people we're talking about [in this interview]," he also said. "So, yes, I miss them.".

McCartney added: "It makes me really sad, and I think, 'Oh, wait a minute, everyone misses them.' And it's not just me. So it makes me feel a little better. I think, 'Well, screw it, this is life, and this is what we have.'".
McCartney's new album particularly highlights his connection to his past, particularly on the track "Home to Us.".
You can argue all you want about whether Starr is overrated as a drummer, but there's no denying the chemistry between all the members of The Beatles. McCartney and Starr's return to work on this song truly makes the album special.
