The next major Star Wars game has been officially delayed, bringing the franchise's release a bit later than fans expected. Lucasfilm Games and its partners have planned a busy schedule for 2026, including board game adaptations, arcade racing games, and turn-based tactics games. After a quieter period on the gaming front, the galaxy far, far away is gearing up for one of the most active periods of video game development in recent years, beginning at the end of the month.
The game in question is Monopoly Star Wars: Heroes vs. Villains, an upcoming co-development between Ubisoft and Hasbro that reimagines the classic board game as a team-based digital game. The game is now scheduled for release on June 30, nearly three weeks later than its original launch date of June 11. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, GeForce NOW, and PC via the Ubisoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
In Monopoly Star Wars: Heroes vs. Villains, players can build teams in 2v2 and 3v3 modes, choosing from a roster of 28 characters, including Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, iconic Star Wars villains like Darth Vader and Darth Maul, and many more. Each character has unique abilities that enhance gameplay and influence player strategy. The dedicated Monopoly board features locations from the Star Wars saga, as well as reimagined special tiles, dice challenges, and new GO events to create a unique match experience.
On April 29, Ubisoft and Hasbro unveiled a full trailer for the game, showcasing new mechanics, including cinematic moments inspired by beloved Star Wars scenes and gameplay that rewards clever hero combinations. Pre-orders are now open on all platforms, and with a release date in three weeks, Monopoly Star Wars: Heroes vs. Villains will be the first new standalone Star Wars game to hit stores and digital platforms in 2026.

«Star Wars in Fortnite
The first major Star Wars game project set in 2026 has already launched and concluded earlier this month. On May 1, Epic Games, Disney, and Lucasfilm launched a month-long Star Wars-themed campaign in Fortnite, introducing three new games built using the official Star Wars toolset. Among them is Galactic Siege, offering 10-on-10 class-based PvP battles on iconic Star Wars planets.
Additionally, there's Escape Vader, a four-player co-op survival game where players try to evade Darth Vader. The Sith Lord stalks players at every turn as they try to escape his menacing presence. Then there's Droid Tycoon, where players can build and customize droids using Star Wars blueprints. The Star Wars and Fortnite crossover introduced a variety of interesting characters, including one that sparked controversy.
Alongside these three major projects, Epic Games opened up community-created Star Wars worlds, developed using the same official tools, and hundreds of islands launched within a month. Players can race tauntauns across icy tracks, manage a bustling cantina on Tatooine, or pilot a starfighter in space battles—all in Fortnite.
Star Wars: Zero Company
Rounding out the 2026 lineup is Star Wars: Zero Company, a single-player turn-based tactics game from Bit Reactor in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment, published by EA and Lucasfilm Games.
In Zero Company, players assume the role of Hawkes, a former Republic officer leading an elite squad of mercenaries and operatives on covert missions at the end of the Clone Wars. The game is clearly inspired by Firaxis Games' modern XCOM series, featuring third-person turn-based combat, deep character customization, permadeath, and the occasional appearance of Jedi, including Tognath Tel-Rea's Padawan, Vokoss.
This was demonstrated in the latest videos from Summer Game Fest, and it was also confirmed that Anakin Skywalker himself will appear in the game.
The next major Star Wars game planned for this year, Zero Company, will release this summer on August 27, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer
The next game in the standalone lineup is Star Wars: Galactic Racer, an arcade racing adventure from Fuse Games and Secret Mode, published in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. The game will be released on October 6 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Set during the New Republic era, Galactic Racer tells the story of a mysterious pilot named Shade, who participates in an unsanctioned race known as the Galactic League, operating in the lawless Outer Rim. Players will recognize familiar planets from the films, including Jakku, Tatooine, Ando Prime, and Lantaana, as well as new locations like Sentinel One.
The game features a single-player story campaign, detailed in the recent Summer Game Fest trailer, in which players battle characters like the new villain Kestar Bul and familiar faces like the narcissistic Sebulba. Also included are an arcade mode with time trials and an online multiplayer mode supporting up to 12 players in a race.
Fuse Games, founded in 2023 by former Criterion Games developers who previously worked on the Burnout and Need for Speed franchises, began work on Galactic Racer at the same time as the studio's launch. Pre-orders are now open on all platforms, and with approximately four months remaining until release, the game is likely to launch in October.
With Monopoly Star Wars: Heroes vs. Villains releasing on June 30, Galactic Racer in October, and Zero Company expected by the end of the year, along with Fortnite launching this month, Star Wars fans will have plenty of new things to do on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, and PC in the next few months.
