Steven Spielberg wrote the first script for "Disclosure Day" on his tablet because his handwriting had become "horribly bad." In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning this week, the Oscar winner revealed that he created the initial 50-page draft in the "Notes" section of his iPad.
«"That's where I wrote it!" he exclaimed. "And then I printed it out, read it, and then went back to my iPad. My handwriting is terrible. As I've gotten older, it's gotten so bad that I can't even decipher it. Back when I was much younger, I used to write everything by hand.".
Spielberg then jokingly said, "Thank you, Steve Jobs!" — referring to the late Apple co-founder.
The director went on to describe how he rewrote the script several times before handing it over to screenwriter David Koepp.
Spielberg is known for frequently exploring supernatural themes in his work, such as in films such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), and War of the Worlds (2005).
However, the director admitted that he had not yet experienced any paranormal phenomena in his own life.
«"Isn't that terrible?" the 79-year-old laughed. "I deserve it! I deserve to be seen… I'm the representative of these guys, and they still haven't shown themselves to me? I don't understand it.".
However, Spielberg claimed that extraterrestrial life exists.
«"Based on the circumstantial evidence I've collected over a lifetime, the stories of everyone I've listened to, every documentary I've ever watched, and every congressional testimony I've heard, I'm absolutely certain they were here and are here," he added. "And who knows, maybe they've always been here.".
The film "Disclosure Day," starring Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor and Colin Firth, hits theaters on Friday.
