Jason Momoa's Lobo is coming to theaters soon, and the intergalactic bounty hunter has just released his first trailer. After starring in Snyder's Marvel Cinematic Universe as Aquaman, the King of Atlantis, Momoa is fulfilling a long-held dream by joining James Gunn's DC Universe as Lobo. The Hawaiian actor will make his debut as the Madman himself in Supergirl, which opens in theaters on Friday, June 26.
DC Studios has released the first trailer dedicated entirely to Jason Momoa's Lobo, ahead of his upcoming DC Universe debut in Supergirl. It appears that at some point in Supergirl, Lobo will find himself behind bars, possibly in the custody of Cream of the Yellow Hills and his fellow space pirates, the Rogues, before being freed by Kara Zor-El.
Director Craig Gillespie's blockbuster looks to be faithfully adapting the cigar-smoking alien bounty hunter for the DC Universe, having previously only appeared once in a live-action film on the Syfy channel's Krypton.
DC Studios has used Lobo as a central character in its marketing for Supergirl, though he is expected to have only a small to mid-sized supporting role in the film.
In his first trailer for the DC Universe film, Lobo makes his motives clear, proudly declaring: «"I kill for money, not for fun.", referring to his career as a bounty hunter.
Lobo is rarely seen without his signature Spacehog, a motorcycle capable of traveling in the vacuum of space. The Madman's preferred mode of transportation even features in the best popcorn bucket in the DC Universe to date.

DC Studios also released a second promotional video featuring Momoa as Lobo, highlighting his chaotic and unpredictably funny character, with the caption: «"When Lobo gets out of control and the saxophones get louder.".
What's next for Jason Momoa's Lobo after Supergirl?
Jason Momoa's Lobo appears to be an unexpected ally of Supergirl in the DC Universe, though, as is typical of Madman, he likely has his own agenda. It's safe to assume that Supergirl's villain, Cream of the Yellow Hills, is Lobo's latest quarry, forcing him to collaborate with the Girl of Steel to destroy him, but what happens next remains to be seen.
Nexus Point News reported this with reference to «"untested"» Sources suggest Momoa will return as Lobo in Gunn's next film, Man of Tomorrow. However, since the actor who played Lobo is busy filming A Minecraft Movie Squared in New Zealand while the Superman sequel is in production in Atlanta, he may not join the cast until filming concludes, suggesting he'll only appear in a minor role, if at all.
Interestingly, Momoa recently found himself with some free time, having left PlayStation Productions' Helldivers film adaptation for unclear reasons. This could free him up for another appearance as Lobo or a return to the role of Dante Reyes in Fast & Furious Forever, the culminating installment of the Fast & Furious saga, scheduled for release on March 17, 2028.
If not "Man of Tomorrow," many are hoping the space bounty hunter's next step will be a solo project, whether it's a film or a big-budget series on HBO Max. In many ways, Lobo has the potential to become the DC Universe's answer to Wolverine, especially if fans respond positively to Momoa's debut in "Supergirl.".
