In the series, the past comes back to haunt married lawyers Tom and Anna Bowden (Wilson and Adams) when Max Cady (Bardem), the violent psychopath they helped put in prison 17 years ago, finds his way out. When Cady finds the Bowdens, he begins terrorizing the couple and their two children, but does so in a way that allows him to evade the law at every turn.
