Tom Holland is being more open about his drinking habits before he quit drinking.
In a new interview for the cover of GQ, where he starred alongside his colleagues, film "Odyssey"« With Matt Damon and Robert Pattinson, Holland recalled the years before he quit drinking in January 2022. People reported that the actor described his former "wild" life as lonely and "un-Hollywood," saying he would sit alone in a hotel room, finish the minibar, and go to work the next day.
These details gave his story of recovery from addiction a clearer outline. Holland described not a period of flamboyant celebrity parties, but a personal routine that had become too easy to repeat.
Holland said his drinking was not a Hollywood spiral.
Holland's comments come after Pattinson joked in an interview with GQ about how long the actor, who played Spider-Man, stretched out his "crazy years".
Holland denied that his past involved nightclubs or the public party scene. He said he'd "always been pretty level-headed," but he drank too much.
His example was more modest: he drank alone in a hotel room, emptied the minibar, and still went to work the next day.
The detail about the minibar added a special depth to the story.

By then, he said, he felt happier, healthier, had a clearer mind, and was better able to cope with problems.

Holland also linked this period of his life with a change in his approach to work.
In an interview with GQ, he said he needed time at home to develop personally and ensure he still loved what he did. This break preceded his full-scale return to making large-scale films.
Holland plays Telemachus in Christopher Nolan's film «"Odyssey"» , which is scheduled to premiere on July 17, 2026. He will also return as Peter Parker in the film. «Spider-Man: New Day» , which Marvel plans to premiere on July 31, 2026.

He launched the non-alcoholic beer brand Bero after realising how helpful a better quality non-alcoholic drink could be in the early stages of his own sobriety journey.
According to media reports, Holland said the first year of sobriety was difficult for him, and that having a product like Bero would have made things much easier at the time. He has since expanded the brand's offerings, releasing mocktails inspired by Zendaya's sobriety.
