Five years ago, the idea of Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter working together in a studio would have seemed unthinkable—but you never know what the future will bring.
In her new magazine cover interview Dazed Rodrigo was asked if she'd ever like to collaborate on a song with her fellow Gen Z pop star, and she didn't shy away from the idea. "Oh my god," she said with a laugh. "I mean, I'm open… I'm open to all kinds of collaborations.".

A graduate of the TV series "« High School Musical: The Musical: The Series"» She also named artists she personally dreams of collaborating with. "I've been listening to a lot of PJ Harvey lately. And Fiona Apple," she told the publication. "I think these two artists are doing something special, genuine, and unfiltered. I'd really love to meet them and connect with them.".
This isn't the first time Rodrigo has been asked about Carpenter recently. Five years ago, the two women found themselves at the center of a public debate after Rodrigo released her 2021 debut single, "Drivers License," which chronicled how her ex-boyfriend broke up with her to be with "that blonde," whom fans identified as Carpenter. In response, the "« Girl Meets World» released tracks such as "Skin" and "Because I Liked a Boy".
But now, as Rodrigo says of Carpenter, "I think she's wonderful," in an interview British Vogue In March, "I'm really happy about all her success. I love the album she released… people are just starting to act weird and clickbait-y. But it's all for the best. I've spoken to her many times.".
Regarding her collaboration with Lorde, whom Rodrigo has repeatedly called his musical idol, she said Dazed publication : "Oh yes, she's amazing. Pure Heroine Album definitely influenced my understanding of songwriting. I really like her new album.".
