Valderrama shared some details about what happens after the show's cliffhanger finale of Season 23 during his appearance at the 2026 Los Angeles International Latino Film Festival.

Wilmer Valderrama shares some details about the fate of Special Agent Nick Torres.
46-year-old star TV series "NCIS"« spoke to PEOPLE magazine at a screening of the film starring Suarez at the 2026 Los Angeles International Latino Film Festival, where he revealed what awaits his character in the series. «NCIS» after season 23 ended on a cliffhanger in May.
In the final episode of "Sons and Daughters," Torres (Valderrama) and McGee's son, Mateo (Patrick Keleher), are in an alley when gunshots ring out. The season ended without confirmation of who shot whom, and even Valderrama asked the showrunners what would happen to his character next.
«"Frankly, I don't think we've fully figured this out yet," he says. "We don't have the slightest idea yet. I asked, 'What do we want out of this?' But I can tell you, someone's going to get hurt, and people might not like it.".

However, Valderrama claims he has his theories.
«Listen, every couple of years, you know that NCIS "It needs to be visible. That's why we're shaking up the programming a bit and listening to your feedback," he says. "And we're listening to what you, as fans, want to see in the show. That's why we always pay close attention to what our fans really want to see in the show.".
He adds, "So if you were to guess, I think there's a really, really big shakeup going on, and both things are going to happen in the first episode… I don't want to get in trouble for that. No, let me get in trouble. How about this? There are some big changes coming next season, and new characters are coming in. What does that mean for Torres? I can only hope he survives.".

In May, the showrunner TV series "NCIS"« Stephen D. Binder commented on the surprise ending in an interview with TV Insider, confirming that "someone got hurt" in the final scene.
«"We're all pretty tired of killing people this season. So I can rule that out," Binder said. "And besides, there's nothing funny about it. When someone's dead, they're dead.".
He added, "It's much more interesting—I'll remember Gibbs shooting McGee. It's much more fun when someone's alive and getting shot than when they're dead. And by fun, I mean interesting.".
As for Valderrama's latest project, then "Suarez"« tells the story of NASCAR's Daniel Suarez, who became the first Mexican-born driver to win a Cup Series race. According to Valderrama, "« Suarez brought a dynamic storytelling to NASCAR that was very appealing." The documentary is directed by Mario Diaz, and Valderrama is the executive producer.
Earlier this year, Valderrama confirmed that the TV series "NCIS"« renewed for a 24th season. The actor joined the series in 2016 for season 14, later revealing at the 2024 Monte Carlo Television Festival in Monaco how he would like Torres to die in the long-running series if that were his fate. "Like Denzel Washington in «"Training day »"—just die," Valderrama said, referring to the 2001 film in which Washington's detective, Alonzo Harris, died in a machine-gun shootout.
«"I think, without being a bad guy [like Harris], of course, I'd like to die a good guy," he added. "But to protect my family somehow, just under a barrage of bullets, I imagine a barrage of bullets raining down on me, dying heroically with violins playing and the rain pouring down.".
