Shankman's statement came after social media users alleged the film used artificial intelligence. In a Letterbox review of the film by visual effects artist Gloria Cook, she wrote, "As if the film weren't bad enough, it's one of the most obvious uses of AI I've seen in a movie, with numerous visual effects that look AI-generated and questioning how obvious stock footage might be. (The end credits confirm that Acme AI was the primary visual effects company on the film.)".
One of the social media posts that was particularly popular due to its alleged use of AI in show "Stop! That! Train! »" was posted Sunday on X. "My girlfriend just made a pained noise on FaceTime, and when I asked what happened, she said, 'RuPaul's new movie is full of AI,'" the user wrote.

In a review of the film published in The Hollywood Reporter , chief film critic David Rooney wrote: "While RuPaul makes excellent use of her impeccable comedic timing, wicked laughs, and sophisticated drag persona as US President Judy Gagwell (a name worthy of a Bond girl of yesteryear), bringing energy whenever she appears on screen, the real stars and best actors are Ginger Minj and Jujubee, a duo that is a true delight.".
