Marvel Studios is making a historic decision regarding the release date of its next series on the Disney+ streaming service. Since its launch on Disney+ in 2019, Marvel's performance within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and other Marvel universes has been extremely mixed, including some of its biggest hits on streaming platforms. As the saga moves into Phase Six, one of this year's series will be released on a completely new date.
Marvel Studios and Marvel Television confirmed that X-Men '97 will premiere on Disney+ on July 1. This marks the first time a Marvel Cinematic Universe series has premiered on Disney+ in July. It is also the third Disney+ series to debut this year, following the debut of Wonder Man in January and the premiere of the second season of Daredevil: Rebirth in March.
Upcoming Marvel Studios Series Premieres on Disney+ (Expected and Confirmed Dates)
October 14, 2026 - VisionQuest
Following the second season of X-Men '97, Marvel will return to Disney+ on October 14, 2026, with the release of VisionQuest. The series will consist of eight episodes, but there is no information yet on how many will be released in the first week or later.
Starring Paul Bettany and a host of Marvel Cinematic Universe veterans, VisionQuest is the third installment in the Disney+ trilogy that began with WandaVision and Agatha All Along, the former of which became one of the most popular MCU releases since the Infinity Saga. The return of Bettany (the longest-serving MCU star, having debuted in Iron Man) guarantees plenty of nostalgic moments and continues the gripping story exclusive to Disney+.
Fall 2026 - Season 2 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man«
In the fall of 2026, Marvel will return to its animated series with the second season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Starring Hudson Thames as Spider-Man, the series is set in an alternate universe, the events of which began with Captain America: Civil War, where a young Spider-Man faces off against an army of his iconic comic book villains.
While the exact release date for the animated series "Your Neighborhood Spider-Man" has not yet been announced, its first season continues to be considered one of the most highly acclaimed projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Given this success, the second season is expected to be another major success in the new Marvel animated series.
March 2027 – Daredevil: Rebirth, Season 3.
Following the conclusion of Daredevil: Rebirth's second season in May 2026, a third season is confirmed for March 2027. Starring Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, and Vincent D'Onofrio, the series takes place after Wilson Fisk's removal as mayor, and Daredevil continues to protect Hell's Kitchen and the rest of New York City.
The third season will continue the storyline begun in Netflix's The Defenders saga, and will even bring back Luke Cage, played by Mike Colter, and Danny Rand, played by Finn Jones. "Born Again" is expected to air primarily weekly and become one of the annual releases in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with a new season likely to arrive every year.
Summer 2027 (estimated date) - Season 3 of X-Men '97«
Following the release of the second season of X-Men '97 in July, production on the third season will begin. While plot details likely won't be released for the foreseeable future, many anticipate it will air in about a year, sometime in the summer of 2027.
Given that the first season of X-Men in 1997 became one of the most successful projects in the recent history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, expectations for the second and third seasons are very high. Like Daredevil, it is expected to become one of the standard annual releases in the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the next few years.
Fall 2027 (Expected Date) - Miracle Man Season 2«
In January 2026, Marvel Studios premiered its second project as part of its Marvel Spotlight series, the Wonder Man series. Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Sir Ben Kingsley, the series follows Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery as they seek roles in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot of Wonder Man, while the Department of Damage Control attempts to capture Simon after discovering his superpowers.
Marvel shocked fans by renewing Wonder Man, making it the first Spotlight series to receive a second season. The series quickly earned rave reviews for its realistic approach to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, allowing Abdul-Mateen and Kingsley to develop one of the best partnerships and relationships in the franchise's history.
Fall 2029 (predicted) – Marvel Zombies Season 2
In 2025, Marvel Zombies became the first animated series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to receive a TV-MA rating on Disney+, spinning off the zombie-themed episode "What If...?" from Season 1. Starring Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel, the series sees dozens of Marvel characters unite to fight a zombie outbreak, culminating in a battle between Scarlet Witch and the Hulk.
Since the first season released approximately three years after its announcement in 2022, the second season could follow a similar path and release in 2029. However, given the success of the first season, Marvel may try to speed things up and release it by 2028.
The second season of X-Men '97 will be the first new season of the series since 2024, continuing the revival of the original X-Men: The Animated Series after its run from 1992 to 1997. Featuring many of the original cast members, the new season will see the X-Men split across multiple timelines, leading to the anticipated return of classic supervillain Apokolips.
