Molly Sims says she decided to freeze her eggs after two years at 35 as an "insurance measure," explaining: "I woke up and thought, 'Oh my God, I want a family so much!'".
The supermodel, now 53, shared her experience of conception with host Maggie Sellers on an episode of the show Hot Smart Rich from June 3 , explaining that when she went to her doctor to ask about freezing her eggs, she was advised to freeze her embryos instead.

Sims said her doctor told her that freezing her eggs "wasn't really an option right now," but explained, "What we can do is find new sperm, and we can..." — and I was like, "Wait, I'm not going to freeze embryos.".
She said the doctor told her, "Think about it and come back to me. We're making great progress with egg freezing." And I said, "Okay." And I was incredibly angry.".
Nevertheless, Sims decided to follow her doctor's advice: "It's okay if you have insurance. And I just couldn't get it out of my head. So after that doctor's appointment, I put a date on my calendar when, if I wasn't dating, I would freeze my eggs.".
After this meeting, Sims met her current husband, film producer Scott Stuber, just as the time for her egg freezing was approaching. Sims said she had a fight with a friend, who advised her not to tell Stuber about her plans, explaining that "he'll definitely leave you.".
Sims believed that "if he's going to break up with me... then I'm not sure we should even think about getting married.".
What followed was "a very difficult conversation," Sims says, explaining, "When that date came in 2010, I was going to do it with or without him... I made that promise to myself.".

When she spoke with Stuber, she explained that egg freezing wasn't as reliable as embryo freezing, but she still planned to undergo some kind of fertility preservation procedure. "He looked at me and said, 'Let's do it.'".
Sims said she "went back to the doctor" and underwent two embryo freezing procedures. She and Stuber later had three children: Gray Douglas, 9, Scarlett May, 11, and Brooks Alan, 13. They noted that despite the embryo freezing, the children were conceived naturally.
As she explained to Sellers, at 37, "I'm considered old, even though I haven't even started aging yet, and I just couldn't let that go." Sims encouraged other women to maintain the same determination in pursuing what they want: "I would tell every woman: Don't convince yourself of something you don't want.".
