A24 has released a new trailer for its upcoming romantic comedy film directed by Olivia Wilde.
«"Invitation"» — Wilde's third directorial work after the films «"Clever girl"» и «"Don't worry, dear."» . The film is based on the Spanish-language film directed by Cesc Gay. «"Sentimental"» . The screenplay was written by Will McCormack and Rashida Jones.
In addition to directing, Wilde starred in the film alongside Seth Rogen, Edward Norton, and Penélope Cruz.
The film follows married couple Joe (Rogen) and Angela (Wilde) who invite their upstairs neighbors, Hawk (Norton) and Pina (Cruz), over for dinner, "where, according to the studio's official description, things go awry.".
«"Joe and Angela's marriage is hanging by a thread. When they invite their mysterious upstairs neighbors to a dinner party, the evening takes an unexpected turn. Will they rekindle the spark, or have they lit a match that will ruin everything?" reads the film's official synopsis.
In the trailer, Joe and Angela prepare to host Hawk and Pina for dinner before another couple arrives.
«"What is this?" Joe asks Angela, to which she replies, "It's a carpet.".
«"Did you buy this rug because our neighbors are coming over?" he asks, and she exclaims, "Oh my God!"»
When Pina and Hawk finally arrive, Joe apologizes for things being a bit tense.
«"We like the conflict," Hawk replies.
The Invitation« will be released in limited release on June 26 and worldwide on July 10.
