Godfrey's talent agency, Markham Froggatt & Irwin, announced his death in a statement posted on its website on Friday, June 5.
«"It is with deep sadness that we confirm that Patrick Godfrey passed away last night," the statement read. "He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.".
The agency added: "Paddy was an exceptionally talented actor and a wonderful person and he will be greatly missed.".

Godfrey rose to fame with his role as Leonardo da Vinci in the film« Eternal love »"1998, a modern adaptation of the classic fairy tale about Cinderella , which also stars Drew Barrymore, Anjelica Huston, Dougray Scott, Melanie Lynskey and Timothy West.

His other notable film credits include the films «"Clockwise"» (1986), «A Room with a View» (1986), «"Maurice"» (1987), «The Importance of Being Earnest» (2002) and «Oliver Twist» (2005). He also played Captain Morrell in the film adaptation «The Count of Monte Cristo» 2002 and Monsieur Gillenormand in the film adaptation «Les Miserables » 2012.
In addition, Godfrey has appeared in dozens of television series over the decades, including «Doctor Who» , «The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby» , «"Catastrophe"» , «Z Cars» , «"Scenario"» , «Blott on the Landscape» , «Doctor Martin» и «Bramwell» .

The late actor was born in London in 1933. He began his career in the entertainment industry in 1956, joining the BBC Radio Drama Company, according to Variety . Godfrey made his film debut in 1972 as a house servant in the television adaptation of John Glenister and Robin Phillips' play« Miss Julie"» , staged by the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Playwright Bill Rosenfield posted a tribute to Godfrey on Facebook, writing, in part: "With a theatrical career spanning nearly 70 years (!), Patrick is a shining example of what it means to be a 'working actor.' You've seen him countless times in film over those decades.".
After listing some of Godfrey's credits, Rosenfield described the actor's career as "rich and full of ups and downs, something any actor would be proud of.".
«"Patrick was a wonderful man, a wonderful actor, and a great friend," Rosenfield concluded his eulogy. "Rest in peace, dear man.".
Godfrey is survived by his wife, actress Amanda Walker, and two children, Kate and Richard Godfrey.
