The actor's brother, Rhodri, wrote on Instagram: "It is with deep sadness that my father and I announce the passing of my brother Owen.".

The star's brother noted that Owen's "love, friendship and generosity were immense" and said they "take comfort in the fact that he was so loved.".
He continued, "Owen was fortunate to have more than just one family. Beyond his biological family, he formed extraordinary, almost familial bonds with many of his closest friends, colleagues, and loved ones. I'm incredibly proud that, while he was my brother, he was a brother to so many others.".
