Someone tell the media: Olivia and Fitz are talking privately.

Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn, who starred together in Shonda Rhimes' drama series "« Scandal »" on ABC from 2012 to 2018, reunited for an interview series Variety «"Actors about actors" June 6.

Discussing his recent television projects - Washington in the series «Imperfect Women» and Goldwyn in TV series «Hackers» и «Law and Order» , they also took time to reflect on their passionate on-screen relationship.

«"People are still very invested in the Olitz relationship," Washington said. "Also, have you seen people online who say, 'Now that I'm older and looking at this relationship, I'm not sure how healthy it is.' Have you experienced that?"»

Goldwyn was surprised and replied, "They just realized that now? Interesting!"«

«"They weren't the healthiest couple. That's not to say they weren't madly in love, but they had some difficulties, and that's why people liked them," she said.

In the series, which ran for seven seasons, Washington played Olivia Pope, a problem-solver, opposite Goldwyn, who played President Fitzgerald "Fitz" Grant. Olivia worked on Fitz's campaign staff, and when we first meet her, she has already left her post as White House communications director. (Of course, her connection to the US president played a role!)

Despite their ups and downs, the actors believe Olivia and Fitz are still together. "I feel like there was a very real connection at the core of our relationship, and that's why we could never let go of that—as opposed to a situation where the relationship ultimately became dysfunctional. I think ultimately, these two people were their answer to each other," Goldwyn suggested.

Washington said she believed they were in family therapy.

«"Yes, regularly!" Goldwyn agreed. "Because they know it's necessary for survival. But I think Fitz spent some time in Vermont. He needed to break free from his addictions… But I think he was very supportive of her along the way—whether she became President of the United States or whatever, I feel like his true desire was to help this woman become… the best version of herself.".

Olivia and Fitz's on-again, off-again relationship was one of the show's highlights, especially given the actors' excellent chemistry.

«Yes, friends right away,» Washington agreed.

The actors have kept in touch since the series ended, often tagging each other in social media posts. Earlier this year, Washington called Goldwyn on an episode of« Call Her Daddy», to discuss their intimate scenes.
