Global film distribution, streaming, and production company Mubi has acquired the Latin American broadcast rights to the Chilean sausage docudrama "Denominación de Origen," which is expected to be a box office hit in Chile in 2025. Streaming in the region is planned to begin this year.
According to Tomás Alzamora and his producing partner Pablo Calisto, the director's second feature film, Little White Lies, has attracted over 100,000 viewers in Chilean cinemas.

The story unfolds in the tiny town of San Carlos (population: over 50,000), whose residents are outraged by what they consider a terrible injustice: the neighboring city of Chillán has taken away their award for "Best Longaniza in Chile." Outraged by this blatant injustice, a group of San Carlos residents launch a grassroots movement seeking official recognition of the origin of their sausages, determined to restore pride and dignity to their city.
This documentary-fiction film, shot entirely in southern Chile, features a cast of non-professional actors, including Luis Maraboli, Exequias Hinostroza, Roberto Betancourt and Alexis Marin.

In 2024, "Denominación de Origen" won the Audience Award and the Special Jury Prize in the Feature Film category at the 31st Valdivia International Film Festival, a clear indication of its box office success the following year.
Alzamora also won the Best Director award at the 26th Buenos Aires International Independent Cinema Festival (BAFICI).
The film was written by Alzamora and Javier Salinas, with cinematography by Sergio Armstrong (The Club, Neruda), music by Martin Schlotfeldt, and production design by Nicolás Oyarce. Alzamora and Calisto produced the film through their production label, Equeco, founded in 2016.
The documentary-comedy joins Mubi's recent acquisitions, which include Fernando Eimbcke's Moscas, which is also slated for a theatrical release, Oliver Lax's Oscar-nominated Sirat, and Joachim Trier's 2026 Best International Feature Film Oscar winner Sentimental Value.
Mubi's extensive catalog also includes Lynne Ramsay's Die My Love, Paolo Sorrentino's Grace: The Beauty of Doubt, Akinola Davis Jr.'s My Father's Shadow, Masha Schilinski's The Sound of Falling, Park Chan-wook's No Other Choice, and Jafar Panahi's It Was Just an Accident.
