In an interview with Giles Hattersley of British Vogue, Nicole Kidman spoke about her wedding to Tom Cruise in her early twenties. When asked how she managed to maintain her confidence under the flashing lights and curious glances, she replied, "Strangely enough, I feel comfortable. Is it strange? It's very strange.".
She laughed and added, "But you have to remember that, literally, because of who I married at such a young age, I was dragged into this from the age of 22. My life basically went that way. My memories of that time are pretty blurry because I was so young.".
Recalling her ten-year marriage to Tom Cruise, the Australian star said, "Yes, I got married very young. Suddenly, I was 22 or 23, and I had this huge movie star husband. But it felt completely natural. We just fell madly in love, and it was all so easy.".
Kidman admitted she was warned that getting married so young could negatively impact her career. She went on to explain her thought process at the time, saying, «I was like, „I don’t care. I’m in love. I want to get married.“ And then I became his „wife,“ and they said, „See, we told you so.“ I thought, „So what? I wasn’t meant to marry the man I loved? Of course I’m going to ruin my career. I don’t care.“».
The "Margot Has Money Problems" star is raising two children, Bella and Connor, with Cruise. She married Keith Urban in 2006, and they have two daughters. However, last year, she split from the musician after 19 years of marriage.
