On Saturday, Olivia Rodrigo made a surprise appearance at the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona, Spain, and then used her performance to debut a new duet with The Cure's Robert Smith.
The two songs that Olivia has already released are Her new album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So In Love, Both songs reference the legendary British post-punk band: "Drop Dead" references The Cure's "Just Like Heaven," and the second single is literally titled "The Cure." The duet, premiered by Olivia, is called "What's Wrong with Me.".
Olivia introduced the song by saying, "I can't believe this song exists and that it was made with this person. I'm just so damn happy." She also mentioned that this is the first time she's featured a guest artist on one of her albums.
After performing the first verse and chorus, Olivia said, "Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Robert Smith!!!" He came out in his signature black outfit, with lipstick, eye makeup, and a tousled hairstyle, and performed the second verse. Then the two of them sang the chorus: "I'm feeling dizzy and nauseous / Tell me I'm in love, it's so hard to admit / I can't eat, I can't sleep / I think you're what's wrong with me.".
«"I think I'm going to cry," Olivia said at the end of the song. "I can't believe this happened in the real world and not just in my imagination." The performance was streamed live on Amazon Music.
According to setlist.fm, Olivia's set also included "Drop Dead" and "The Cure," as well as past hits "Vampire," "Deja Vu," "Drivers License," and "Good 4 U," among others.
Olivia and Robert first performed together in 2025 at the Glastonbury Festival in the UK.
Her album will be released on June 12th.
