Sabrina Carpenter has reportedly been granted a restraining order against her alleged stalker. According to NBC, the singer filed a restraining order against 31-year-old William Applegate in a Los Angeles court on May 29. According to the documents, Carpenter claims Applegate approached her front door and attempted to force his way in on May 23. This followed a prolonged harassment that reportedly began around April 20.

«"His systematic actions of stalking, trespassing, and surveillance have caused me severe and ongoing emotional distress, and I fear what he may do if the court does not stop him," Carpenter's motion states.
«"He made up an outrageous and completely false claim that he knew me personally and that I was waiting for him. It was a complete lie," she added, as reported by BBC News.
She also noted that Applegate's alleged attempt to break into her home was "one of the most egregious violations of personal safety and privacy I have ever encountered.".
The temporary restraining order prohibits Applegate from being within 100 yards of Carpenter, her sister Sarah Carpenter and Sarah's partner, who live with Carpenter at her Hollywood Hills home.

The next court hearing is scheduled for June 17. Detective Peter Dumanis of the Los Angeles Police Department stated that he believes Applegate displays "signs of an obsessive, manic individual." He added, "This trajectory is consistent with well-documented patterns of stalking that pose a serious and escalating threat to the victim's safety.".
Following the alleged incident on May 23, Applegate was arrested and is scheduled to appear in court on June 18 on charges of trespassing. According to legal documents, the alleged stalker returned to the house within two days of his arrest.
Chappelle Roan is another young pop star who has faced intense fan interactions and spoken openly about her personal boundaries. In an interview Rolling Stone In 2024, she revealed that she and Carpenter once met to discuss how they both set boundaries in their relationships with fans.
