Four years with the Kia Sorento Prime have convinced me that it's the ideal family car for people who need plenty of space, comfort, and reliability without the premium price tag. It doesn't claim to be sporty or luxurious, but it does its primary job—moving your family and belongings—with a solid A. Its main advantages are its vast and flexible interior space, highly reliable engines, good equipment even in mid-range trims, and predictable maintenance costs.
There are some drawbacks, too: high fuel consumption (but that's fair for its class and size), less-than-stellar acceleration, and expensive consumables (filters, brake pads) compared to smaller models. The car is also quite large, which can be a bit of a hassle in tight city parking.
So, who do I recommend the Sorento Prime for? First and foremost, families with two or more children who enjoy traveling by car. Secondly, those who need a car for regular trips out of town, to the countryside, or to haul large cargo. Thirdly, people who value a high seating position, good visibility, and a sense of security. Who shouldn't buy it? Those who drive alone around the city and for whom fuel efficiency and maneuverability are important. Those who seek a sporty driving experience.
Our verdict: We're 100% satisfied with our choice. The Sorento Prime has become a full-fledged member of the family, a reliable companion for everyday life and travel. It has never let us down at a crucial moment, and its spaciousness has saved the day more than once. If you're looking for a large, reliable, safe, and comfortable crossover at a reasonable price, you should definitely consider this model. And if you already own one, love it, maintain it regularly, and it will serve you faithfully for many years to come.
