Forbes' lists are primarily a status symbol for the 1% richest people, but as the business publication's reach has expanded—and as the music industry has produced genuine billionaires—its lists and criteria have also evolved.
In conjunction with the Iconoclast conference's fourth year, the "Iconoclast 50" list was released. Its criteria are rather vague—recognizing "leaders in finance, business, technology, media, entertainment, and philanthropy who are changing the game in real time, disrupting their industries, and challenging the status quo"—and the resulting list is an unusual one: on one end are Elon Musk and Zuckerberg, Trump and Buffett; on the other, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny and The Weeknd, Dodgers pitcher Shohei Ohtani, and South Park duo Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Some are billionaires, while others have unspecified net worths.

One such woman, however, is Taylor Swift, whose earnings, according to the publication, now stand at $2 billion, thanks in large part to her 2023-2024 "Eras" tour and numerous recent releases, including the albums "Tortured Poets Department" and "Life of a Showgirl," as well as re-recordings of her older work.

"As a result, her royalties went straight into her pocket, and she inspired other artists to take ownership of their music. In 2024, Swift achieved billionaire status thanks to her Eras Tour, which became the highest-grossing concert tour in history with revenue of $2.2 billion. She used this money to buy back her original recordings for an estimated $360 million. By March 2026, her net worth had doubled to $2 billion, making her the richest female musician in history.".
However, even this status does not make her the richest living musician: according to Forbes, this is Jay-Z, whose real-time fortune is estimated at $2.8 billion.
